Professionals from 24 countries will gather on 15 and 16 October at the fifth Shooting Locations Marketplace, organised by Feria de Valladolid together with the Spain Film Commission, which this year will welcome new shooting destinations and companies from the sector. The Regional Government of Castile and León and Valladolid City Council are also collaborating on the event, and the gathering maintains cooperation agreements with the most important professional associations in the field: the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), Crew United and Profilm.

“From the outset, we have stressed the global nature of Shooting Locations Marketplace; last year, we made a quantitative leap in terms of international presence, and this year, that trend has continued,” said the general director of Feria de Valladolid, Alberto Alonso, last Friday at the presentation event. For his part, the president of the Spain Film Commission, Juan Manuel Guimeráns, highlighted the backing of the national industry, “as evidenced by the involvement of a large number of Spain Film Commission members as well as the growth in private participation, both from companies providing services to shoots and from studios”.

Indeed, the increase in the number of companies is one of the things that make this fifth edition stand out, with 19 firms set to attend: they include recording studios, hotels and service providers for shoots from Spain, Portugal, Jordan, Estonia and Hungary. New additions include Stellarium studios, located in Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca), and Pedralonga Estudios, in A Coruña, joining Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante. Thus, over these two days, 70 location managers and producers from companies such as Amazon, Annapurna, CBS Studios, the Korean Climax, Focus Features and Marvel will meet in Valladolid.

Meanwhile, during the presentation, the Deputy Minister for Cultural Action of the Regional Government of Castile and León, Mar Sancho, underlined “the positive moment this region is seeing in terms of film shoots, with 339 in 2024, including feature films, series, television shows and advertising productions - an increase of 27.93% compared to those recorded the previous year”; it's a trend that, she stated, “is continuing in 2025 and consolidates our positioning as a destination for audiovisual projects”. Furthermore, the Valladolid City Council’s Councillor for Tourism, Events and City Brand, Blanca Jiménez, stressed, “The fact that this market, the only one in Spain for a sector that is important both economically and socially worldwide, is held in Valladolid is clear proof of our city’s capacity to position itself with professional and distinctive events throughout the year.”

Finally, it is worth highlighting that the Shooting Locations Marketplace programme includes conferences and round-tables analysing topics such as the draw of Asian locations in international productions, the search for new settings and the challenges of remaining competitive in a global market, among other subjects. In addition, the event goes beyond the confines of the Feria de Valladolid venue and offers participating location managers and producers the chance to visit the territories and sites they will hear about in their business meetings: eight trips will depart on Friday 17 October to Castile and León, Andalusia, Rías Baixas, Asturias, Barcelona, the Canary Islands and, for the first time, to international destinations such as Portugal and Norway.
