Rapp to head ADRC

After Jean-Paul Rappeneau and Patrice Leconte, the Agency for Regional Cinema Development (ADRC) is changing its president, with Bernard Rapp taking over the position. The director, who is also a journalist who knows the media world very well, has been appointed for a three year term. He’ll be developing the work of the ADRC, with an aim to increase the diffusion of cinema in the more remote parts of France.

Bernard Rapp has also worked in production, having made three feature length films: Tiré à part (1997), Une affaire de goût (2000) and No Big Deal (2003). His second film was nominated for the César awards and was given a Special Mention at the Karlovy Vary Festival. He is currently preparing a new project, Un petit jeu sans conséquence, which should be starring Sandrine Kiberlain, Edouard Baer, Marina Fois and Yvan Attal. Shooting is due to start in May 2004.
ADRC was founded in 1983 by the French ministry of culture and the National Film Centre – CNC. It has circulated 33,000 prints and 1,600 films, concentrating on screening films in the provinces.
