The theme of the second conference (“Il gusto degli altri”) organised by API (the Italian Filmmakers' & Producers' Association) is “Cinema on Television– laws, funding and creativity in Europe”. The event will be taking place on December 11 and 12 in Rome, at the national headquarters of AGIS.
Delegates will be discussing new public funding mechanisms for cinematographic production and the role of television operators in supporting new films. The independent producers will also be looking at a series of joint initiatives to safeguard quality, cultural pluralism and experimentation, as well as ways to secure resources for production and the regular broadcast of quality European films on TV channels.
Many Italian and foreign representatives will be making speeches at the conference. Those expected to take part include the directors Gabriele Muccino and Paolo Virzì, Angelo Barbagallo, the president of API, Giancarlo Leone, the managing director of RAI Cinema, Giampaolo Letta, MD of Medusa, and Carlo Macchitella, president of 01 Distribution and the director general of the film board at the ministry of culture, Gianni Profita.
