Having kicked off on 27 October in the Rhône, the shoot for Une nuit by Daniel Auteuil is continuing in the Sarthe department, where it will wrap on 6 December. It marks the actor’s sixth feature as a director, after such movies as An Ordinary Case [+see also:

), the screenplay takes us back to August 1942. Amid the occupation, the Vichy government organises a mass round-up of foreign Jews. Gilbert Lesage, a young civil servant at the Service Social des Étrangers, is tasked with setting up a screening commission to rule on the fate of the arrested Jews, while Father Alexandre Glasberg, a committed humanitarian, manœuvres to save them. Caught between Vichy’s bureaucracy and mutual-support networks, they will have to join forces to defy the machinery of the State and risk the unthinkable to wrench lives from the grim fate that awaits them.

Une nuit is being produced by Frédéric Jouve for Les Films Velvet and by Zack Films (Daniel Auteuil’s company), and is being co-produced by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma. The cinematography is by Belgium's Jean-François Hensgens (nominated at the 2019 Magritte Awards in his field for Above the Law [+see also:
