Egmond for Alexander

The Dutch production company, Egmond Film, has announced that it will be taking part in the co-production of Alexander by Oliver Stone. Egmond Film will be investing €15m in the film starring Angelina Jolie and Colin Farrell, which is equivalent to 10% of the total budget. In return, Egmond Film will receive a percentage of the film’s profits.

The company was founded in 1997 in Amsterdam and is led by Hans de Weers and Hans de Wolf. Egmond Film is considered as being one of the most promising firms in the new Dutch film companies, and it has produced Alegria by Franco Dragone, The Archives by Pieter Kuijpers, Mariken by André van Duren, Oysters at Nam Kee's by Pollo de Pimentel and the Oscar winning film, Antonia's Line by Marleen Gooris.

The production on Alexander brings together partners representing countries like America, Holland, Britain, Germany and France. The film is about the life of the great military leader and King of Macedonia, who lived between 365 and 323 BC. The filming is taking place in Morocco, Thailand and in studios in London. The film should be ready by the end of 2004.
