The Berlinale Series Market is once again set to showcase some of the most compelling serial content from around the world, bringing together creators, producers, broadcasters, and financiers in an intimate, yet globally influential environment. The 12th edition of the market will take place from 15 to 18 February at CinemaxX on Potsdamer Platz, and promises an engaging programme of conferences, showcases, networking events, and the flagship Berlinale Series Market Selects label. From thrillers and dramedies to docuseries and biopics, the curated line-up demonstrates the breadth of storytelling talent and creative risk-taking across regions and genres.

This year, the market also highlights the growing role of narrative experimentation and socially conscious content. Series addressing themes from climate activism and political upheaval to gender representation and cultural identity are foregrounded, reflecting the industry’s ongoing conversation about the responsibility of creators to engage with the pressing issues of our time. Panels such as “Risk-Taking and Disruption: IPs and Originals” and “Rebel Rebel: Series Battling the Status Quo” will examine how innovation in storytelling can coexist with commercial imperatives, offering insight into how producers and platforms navigate the tension between artistic integrity and market demands. Following up on last year’s discussions on narrative ownership, the panel “Changing the Narrative: Gender Balance in the Industry” will explore practical strategies for achieving meaningful representation in front of and behind the camera.

In partnership with Studio Babelsberg, the market introduces the Studio Babelsberg Lounge, a dedicated networking space for producers, broadcasters, and creatives. The market will also present the inaugural Studio Babelsberg Production Excellence Award, recognising one exceptional series from the Berlinale Series Market Selects for its innovative producing approach and international potential. Meanwhile, the Series Match initiative continues to facilitate early-stage collaborations between Ibero-American and German production companies, underscoring the market’s commitment to cross-border co-development.

Alongside scripted content, the market expands its focus to docuseries, thanks to closer synergy with the EFM DocSalon, highlighting the increasing appetite for factual storytelling and hybrid formats. By integrating discussions on gender balance, representation, and creative ethics, the market situates itself not only as a commercial hub but also as a forum for thoughtful debate on the direction of the international series industry.

In parallel, the Berlinale Co-Production Market is hosting the 12th edition of its Co-Pro Series event, spotlighting ten high-calibre series projects from across Europe, North America, Latin America, and beyond. The pitches will take place on the morning of 17 February at CinemaxX.

Co-Pro Series has a long track record of launching international hits such as Babylon Berlin, Freud and Davos 1917 [+see also:

, offering a platform for innovative storytelling with cross-border potential. This year, the selected projects demonstrate a diversity of genres, including psychological thrillers, historical dramas, crime stories, and dystopian narratives. Several projects also explore contemporary social issues, from gender dynamics and personal trauma to environmental challenges and ethical dilemmas, reflecting the event’s commitment to narratives with depth, resonance, and international appeal.

The pitches will be complemented by a full programme of networking events, panel discussions, and meetings designed to facilitate co-development and financing strategies. As part of the Berlinale Pro* ecosystem, Co-Pro Series benefits from its integration with the European Film Market, Berlinale Talents, and the World Cinema Fund. This infrastructure provides creators with access to global partners and guidance at every stage of development, production, and distribution. The market is supported by MDM, the Creative Europe - MEDIA programme, and the German Federal Film Board (FFA).
