SF buys AMC cinema

by

SF Bio has just taken over AMC Kungens’ Kurva multiplex cinema in the south of Stockholm. The 18 screen, 4,166 seat complex will operate under the new name Filmstaden Heron City. It was AMC’s only cinema in Sweden.

SF Bio already controls 211 screens with a total of 31,300 seats in 21 large urban areas throughout Sweden. For Jan Bernhardsson, the CEO of SF Bio, the acquisition of the Heron City multiplex is a great opportunity to increase the company’s range of cinemas. “The arrangements fit right in with our plans to establish operations on the South side of Stockholm”, he said. “Guided by our experiences with our multiplex theatre in the Northern region of Stockholm, Filmstaden Kista, our easy-access ticket sales services, and our operational competence, we are confident that we will be able to run Filmstaden Heron City in a successful way”.
