Laser-Cat wins the La Cinef competition at Cannes
- CANNES 2026: Brazilian director Lucas Acher’s short film has clinched First Prize; South Korea, France and Iran round off the podium
Presided over by Carla Simón (who was joined by Ali Asgari, Salim Kechiouche, Ji-Min Park and Magnus von Horn), the Short Film and La Cinef jury of the 79th Cannes Film Festival has handed out the awards in the La Cinef competition. The selection comprised 19 works by film students chosen from among 2,747 applicants from 662 film schools worldwide.
