Rehearsals for a Revolution wins Cannes' Golden Eye
- CANNES 2026: Pegah Ahangarani’s film has nabbed the crown as the best documentary screened on the Croisette; a Special Mention went to Tin Castle by Alexander Murphy
Presented as a Special Screening in the Official Selection, Rehearsals for a Revolution by Iranian filmmaker Pegah Ahangarani has won the Golden Eye Award, given out by the SCAM and bestowed upon the best of the 21 documentaries screened across the Croisette’s various sections during the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Produced by Czech company Medianest and Spanish outfit Fasten Films, the film’s international sales are handled by French sales agent The Party Film Sales.
The statement by the jury, chaired by Mstyslav Chernov (who was joined by Tabitha Jackson, Géraldine Pailhas, Lina Soualem and Victor Castanet), went as follows: "The jury was struck by the excellent storytelling, by the urgency and vibrancy of the narrative, and by the artistic vision of a filmmaker who guides us through the turbulence of history while never losing sight of the value of every human life."
A Special Mention went to Tin Castle by French-Irish helmer Alexander Murphy, unveiled in competition in the Critics' Week. Produced by French company Goodseed Productions and Irish outfit Samson Films, Tin Castle is handled internationally by Films Boutique.
