Having kicked off on Monday 6 July, shooting on L'Apocalypse - the first feature film by Ambroise Rateau (awarded this year’s César for Best Live-Action Short Film via Mort d'un acteur) - is due to wrap on 7 August in Occitanie.

The cast stars Philippe Rebbot (particularly well-received in In the Move for Love and Sur un fil, and currently in French cinemas in Strawberry Fields Forever), Finnegan Oldfield (nominated twice for the César for Most Promising Actor and once for the Lumières’ Acting Revelation trophy, and recently seen in Alpha and Couture), Anaïde Rozam (noticed in Baise-en-ville, Our Ties and Paris, 13th District), Jérôme Commandeur (The Piano Accident) and Emmanuelle Bercot (the winner of Cannes’ Best Actress Award for My King and recently seen in Forsaken). They’re joined by David Marsais (Mandibles), comedian Augustin Shackelpopoulos, Sébastien Chassagne (Yannick, Baise-en-ville) and Michael Zindel (A Good Jewish Boy).

Penned by the director, the screenplay focuses on three misfits who take refuge in a nightclub along with their hostage following a botched robbery. The police soon surround the building, and negotiations look set be complicated…

Produced by Lucas Tothe for Punchline Cinéma and by Marc-Benoît Créancier for Easy Tiger, L'Apocalypse has been pre-purchased by Canal+, Netflix and France Télévisions. Distribution in French cinemas and international sales will both be handled by Tandem.

For the record, Easy Tiger’s recent line-up includes The Blow by Julien-Gaspar Oliveri, which was unveiled in the most recent edition of Cannes’ Critics’ Week and which is due for release in France on 2 September.
