Europa Distribution is attending the 32nd edition of New Nordic Films (NFF), held from 25-28 August during the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund. Celebrating its enduring partnership, Europa Distribution and NFF will host an open panel titled "The International Promotion of Nordic Cinema", which will feature case studies on the releases of Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value and Hlynur Pálmason's The Love That Remains across the world. This initiative offers an exclusive platform for independent film publishers and distributors and other industry professionals to collaborate, exchange strategies, and broaden their horizons on the promotion and reception of Nordic films globally.
On Thursday 27 August, 20 Europa Distribution members and many more film professionals from various countries will meet at Haugesund Public Library for the open panel discussion. Distributors Albert Yao (Swallow Wings, Taiwan), Anna Rampa (Aerofilms, Czech Republic), Bianca Maria Roiu (Bad Unicorn, Romania), Johanna Mayer (Jour2Fête, France), and Zsolt Almási (Mozinet, Hungary) will present case studies and enter discussions on the release of these Nordic films. The panel will offer a comparative analysis of their release strategies, covering key areas such as acquisition, marketing, press engagement, release planning and audience reach, both theatrically and online. Distributors will discuss how they tailored their approaches to fit the specific needs of their regions. Moderated by Petri Kemppinen, seasoned expert of international film and TV content, the conversation will delve into broader themes, including the evolution of market trends, strategic adaptations for different cultural contexts, and the evolving role of promoters and curators of Nordic films.
In addition to this panel, distributors will participate in festival activities, including the Nordic Co-Production Market, Work in Progress Screenings, and One-on-One meetings, in line with the partnership between Europa Distribution and New Nordic Films.
Throughout the rest of 2026, Europa Distribution is committed to hosting a series of workshops and events tailored for distributors and film industry professionals. Upcoming engagements include the Venice Production Bridge from 4-8 September, which will feature a joint working session with producers from ACE Producers, EAVE and European Producers Club. It will be followed by the San Sebastian International Film Festival from 20-24 September, where distributors will gather for a closed workshop on audience design and a working session with sales agents. Additionally, Europa Distribution has recently launched the latest edition of its mentorship programme “EDMentorShe”, furthering its dedication to support women distributors in the film industry.
