FESTIVALS Spain

Curt Ficcions 2004

by

The new edition of the festival for Spanish short films, Curt Ficcions 2004, will be held between Barcelona (at the Icaria Cinema) and Madrid (at the Ideal Cinema). The event is taking place from January 29 to March 16, and it aims to promote short films not purely as artistic products but also as commercial productions. There are 31 short films on the programme, with only one work being shown out of competition.
The main aim of this 7th edition of Curt Ficcions is give all the short films (whether they win prizes or not) an opportunità of being shown on the big screen. The event has always been linked to the cinema of literature and this year there’s a tribute to the Spanish writer, Manuel Vazquez Montalban, who died recently.
Apart from the usual competition, the festival will also be featuring some side bar events, such as the screening of short films awarded by the public, shown at previous editions of Curt Ficcions. There will also be some round table debates with participation by famous Spanish film critics as well as the School Screenings in the two Spanish cities, featuring a programme of works made by pupils at the major film schools in the country.
