Video rentals and acquisitions in Italy were valued at €900 million in 2004, an important sum in a market now dominated by DVD. Around 100 million rentals of DVD and VHS were registered, and 10 million copies of films in digital format were sold in kiosks.
According to the Italian video association Univideo, the turnover for the whole market grew by 1.3%. Its president Davide Rossi said: "Our wish for 2005 is to see Italians spend a billion euros".
