Alejandro Amenabar’s The Sea Inside with Javier Bardem was voted Best foreign language film at last night’s Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, beating such front-runners as The Chorus and A Very Long Engagement.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association perceived as a forecast for the Oscars’ ceremony, (February 27th) gave the top awards of Best film in the Drama category to Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator and Best film in the Musical or Comedy section to Sideways, also winner of the Best screenplay written by the director Alexander Payne with Jim Taylor
Clint Eastwood was voted Best director for his Million Dollar Baby which also gave Hilary Swank the opportunity to win a Best Actress award.

Other top awards included Leonardo di Caprio named Best actor in the Drama The Aviator, Jamie Foxx in the musical Ray, and Annette Bening in the Musical/comedy Being Julia.
UK actor Clive Owen won the Best supporting Actor award in Mike Nichols’ Closer and his co-star Natalie Portman was also rewarded in the supporting acting category.
Mick Jagger who co-wrote Alfie’s Best original song “Old Habits Die Hard” with ex-Eurythmics Dave Steward said in his acceptance speech: I’d like to thank Dave Steward for getting me into this mess…”
Finally Robin Williams who received the Cecil B DeMille Award for career achievement dedicated his award to the late Christopher Reeve.
