Alla luce del sole out on January 21rst

“Nobody wanted to produce this film”, tells Roberto Faenza. But thanks to his wife Elda Ferri from Jean Vigo Italia, Mikado and Rai Cinema, the director of Prendimi l’anima managed to make his movie. Alla Luce del sole to be released next Friday 21rst January with 150 prints, tells the true story of father Pino Puglisi from Palermo killed by the mafia on September 15, 1993.

The story is set in the Brancaccio neighbourhood where the priest tried to prevent children on the street from being recruited by mafiosi bosses. For Cosa Nostra, the priest was seriously in their way and his assassination the day of his birthday represented the end of a long series of mafiosi killings.

For the director, this was a very predictable murder: "I wondered how during the period of the Capaci and via d'Amelio tragedies, when the offensive from the Mafia against the State was at its peak, a priest could have been abandoned in such a way." Don Puglisi will be played by Luca Zingaretti, already famous to Italian TV viewers, alongside Alessia Goria and Corrado Fortuna.
