Nicolai Arcel’s first feature film King’s Game swept the Danish film academy ‘Robert’ awards on 16 January with 8 awards including Best film, Best director, Best adaptation (Nicolai Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg), Best supporting actor (Soren Pilmark) and Best DoP (Rasmus Videbaek). The political thriller produced by Nimbus Film, had already seduced Danish audiences in 2004 taking the number 1 position at the local chart with over half a million admissions.
The groundbreaking 3-D animation film Terkel in Troubleby Stefan Fjeldmark, Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen for Nordisk Film was the second most celebrated film of the Roberts winning 5 awards including Best children and Family film, and the Audience Award.

Brothers by popular director Susanna Bier won the Best original screenplay written by the maverick Anders Thomas Jensen; the Danish star actor Mads Mikkelsenwas named Best actor for his part in Nicolas Winding Refn’s sequel Pusher 2; and Sofie Gråbøl was voted Best actress for her part in Aftermarth by Paprika Steen. The Best long documentary award was given to Jeppe Rønde’s The Svenskas, and in the short film category, Ulrik Wivel’s This is Me Walking won the Best Short Fiction and Laila Hodell and Bertel Torne’s City Of The Bees received the Best Short Documentary award. Sophia Coppola’s Lost in Translation was voted Best foreign film (USA), and the Swedish hit Evil was elected Best foreign film other than US.
