Berlinale Special for Capitol Films

by

The UK sales company Capitol Films is going to climb the red carpet of the art deco Filmpalast in Berlin’s Kurfürstandamm for the screening in the Berlinale Special section on February 18th of Rabbit On The Moon (Conejo en la luna), the first ever UK/Mexican co-production between Mexican Beanca Films/Fidecine and the UK Headgear Films. The political thriller starring UK actress Lorraine Pilkington (Human Traffic) and Mexican star Bruno Bichir is made by Mexican talented director, writer and producer Jorge Ramirez Suarez.

Capitol Films’ co-manager Jane Barclay will also be at the market in Berlin to discuss 6 new mainstream films. She will show the first footage of Nick Cassavetes’s tragic drama Alpha Dog starring pop heartthrob Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone and Emile Hirsch. Currently, in post-production, the film will be released by New Line in the US. Also in post-production is Bart Freundlich’s NY movie Trust The Man starring Julianne Moore, David Duchovny and Maggie Gyllenhaa.
Capitol will continue negotiating the rights of Lucky Number Slevin directed by Paul McGuigan (Gangsters No1), a gangster thriller with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Liu and Ben Kingsley that just started principal photography. New footage will be available on Robert Towne’s Ask The Dust, the screen adaptation of John Fante’s Depression era novel starring Colin Farrell and Salma Hayek, and a new teaser will be shown to international distributors on the UK/Indian co-production The Rising, the most expensive film ever produced in India (over $20m) with backing from Capitol Films. The Rising with Bollywood star Aamir Khan is based on the life of India’s first known revolutionary freedom fighter Mangal Panday hanged by the British in 1857. It will be ready next summer, like another title on Capitol’s line-up: The Big White, a comedy by Ali G Indahouse director Mark Mylod starring Robin Williams, Holly Hunter and Woody Harrelson.
