, which premiered Sunday evening in the Berlinale's section Panorama, received an extraordinary warm welcome. Ultranova is portraying a 25 year-old young boy, Dimitri, who sells with two colleagues ready-built houses. Completely lost, in a perverted environment, he is bored. Jeanne, his young neighbour, is intrigued by rumours which he voluntarily spreads about his strange past. This is also what leads Cathy, Jeanne's friend to meet him. Bouli Lanners, coming from Liège, Wallonia - Belgium, who stood out in numerous festivals with Travellinckx and Muno, his first two short films, signs here his first feature film. The story is brilliantly supported by the shrewd interpretation of the leading actors which we have the pleasure to discover. In the new generation of actors, Vincent Lécuyer, Hélène De Reymaeker, Michael Abiteboul, Marie du Bled and Vincent Belorgey are definitely names which we shall remember. "I had met the two leading actresses for parts which were suppressed, explained the director. I re-wrote the script, based on this meeting. In fact, instead of casting to find the parts, I met with human beings and casted the parts. Ultranova is a word I came up with. Supernova is a star, which dies after having glowed. Ultranova goes ways beyond. The actors are 5 Ultranovas".
The film is produced by Jacques-Henri Bronckart (Versus Production - Belgique) together with Antonino Lombardo (Prime Time - Belgique) and Les Films Pelleas (France). Films Distribution is in charge of international sales.
