Celluloïd Dreams at the top

Celluloid Dreams, the French international sales company presided by Hengameh Panahi, has had fantastic results this year at the Berlin European Film Market. ‘We are very satisfied with this year’s market. The postponement in autumn of the American Film Market has had great impact on Berlin. In the past, sales discussed here were completed in Los Angeles ; now they are decided « on the spot »,’ says Tanja Meissner, international sales manager for Celluloid dreams.

Surfing a wave of success during the whole Berlinale, this French film by Jacques Audiard was eventually sold to Germany (Concorde), Scandinavia (NonStop), the United-Kingdom (Artificial Eye), Spain (Vertigo), Portugal, Austria, Greece, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, ex-Yugoslavian countries, Rumania, the Benelux, and Italy (Bim).
Within northern productions, the greatest event was Factotum, the latest film by the Norwegian director Bent Hamer (Kitchen stories), starring Marisa Tomei and Matt Dillon. Celluloïd has already completed the sales in many countries, Italy (Mikado), Spain, Scandinavia (Nordisk Film), Switzerland, Greece, Bulgaria, Rumania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, ex-Yugoslavian countries, Portugal, and the Benelux.

It is also worth noting that the project for the animation film Kirikou et les bêtes sauvages by Michel Ocelot and Benedicte Galup, has also found some buyers in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, the Benelux, Scandinavia, and Portugal. Dominik Moll (Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien) keeps enthusiasming the professionals : Lemming, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Laurent Lucas, and Charlotte Rampling, was sold, as far as Europe is concerned, to Italy (Lucky Red), Spain (Vertigo), Greece, Switzerland, Hungary, Rumania, Portugal, and the Benelux (Cinéart). Finally, Celluloïd Dreams started the sales for Cuore Sacro by the Italian-Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek (and already reached agreements with the Netherlands and Greece), and completed those of The Edukators by Hans Weingartner by selling it to Finland, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Italy. We may add that Paradise now by Hany Abu-Assad and Me and you and everyone we know by Miranda July, amongst others, also led to very satisfying agreements.
