Top award for producer Anna Anthony

Anna Anthony from Memfis Film has just been awarded the Kurt Linder prize from the Swedish Academy, the second time since the prize’s creation in 1969 a producer receives the prestigious award given to a local film professional from its peers. The previous producer to be rewarded was in fact Lars Jönsson, Head of Memfis Film and colleague to Anna Anthony. Other winners had also included the directors Roy Andersson , Lasse Halström, Lisa Ohlin, Lukas Moodysson and actors Stellan Skarsgård and Ewa Fröling.
This year. the 100 members of the Swedish Academy chose Anthony for her “ingenuity and perseverance in the difficult craftsmanship which is film production”.
Anthony started to work in film in the mid-90s as production assistant on Lars von Trier’s Breaking The Waves, co-produced by Memfis Film. She was associate producer on Lukas Moodysson’s Fucking Amål and Together, and produced on her own Josef Fares’ Jalla Jalla! and Kopps which both attracted over 775,000 Swedish cinemagoers each and were sold in over 25 territories.

Recent feature films produced by Anthony for Memfis Film include Fares’ third feature film Zozo in post-production, and two films co-produced with Zentropa Film in Denmark: Manslaughter (Drabet) the third part of Per Fly’s trilogy following The Bench (2000) and Inheritance (2000) and Susanne Bier new film Brothers (Bröder). Anna Anthony was among the Producers on The Move in Cannes 2001.
