Oscar winner hired by Zentropa

Advance Party will be part of three small budget digital films to be directed by Arnold with Scottish filmmaker Morag Mckinnon and Danish newcomer Mikkel Noergaard. The three directors will use the same nine characters devised by Lone Scherfig (Italian For Beginners) and Anders Thomas Jensen (Mifune) from an original idea by Lars von Trier.

Andrea Arnold who studied film at the American Film Institute had already won 30 awards for Wasp before getting the most coveted one, the Oscar on Sunday night. Her previous two short films: Dog and Milk had both screened at the International Critics Week in Cannes.
Shot in her hometown of Dartford in Kent Wasp tells the story of a single mother (Nathalie Press from My Summer of Love) who takes a few risks to enjoy a couple of drinks down the pub when her old boyfriend reappears (Danny Dyer from Football Factory) and almost ends up paying a high price. The short film was commissioned by the UK Film Council and Channel 4 for their Cinema Extreme scheme with support from Screen South and the Regional Film Development Agency.
