Starting blocks for Hitchhiker’s Guide To Galaxy

Garth Jennings, partner in one of the UK’s most successful music video and commercials production companies Hammer & Tongs, is making his debut feature with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy, the screen adaptation of Douglas Adams’ best-selling novels set for a UK release on April 28.
The Hitchhikers’ Guide to Galaxy started as a BBC Radio 4 six-part series in 1978 which became a five part trilogy of novels under Douglas Adams’ writing skills. The books became a cultural phenomenon in the UK and sold millions of copies worldwide.
The film version written by Adams with Karey Kirkpatrick tells the adventures of Earthman Arthur Dent who is having a very bad day as his house is about to be bulldozed and Planet Earth to be demolished. But he finds the meaning of life and everything he needs to know in the book ‘The Hitchhikers’ Guide to Galaxy’. The film stars Martin Freeman from The Office, Sam Rockwell, Bill Nighy (Love Actually [+see also:

), John Malkovich and the voice cast includes Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman, Helen Mirren and Richard Griffiths. The Touchstone/Spyglass Entertainment production will be released in the UK and Ireland on 28 April by Buena Vista International (UK).
