Austria represents Europe for ‘Tous les cinémas du monde’
As Gilles Jacob announced yesterday, the 58th Festival de Cannes, which will take place from the 11th to the 22d of May 2005, is inaugurating a new program entitled ‘Tous les cinémas du monde’ (cinema all over the world) and supported locally by the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur (PACA). A total of six countries will be able to present all types of productions, including short films, promising projects, and other works not present in other sections of the festival, to give an idea of what their cinema is about. Gilles Jacob explained that screenings will cover one country per day and will take place in a temporary theatre offering 170 seats placed at the centre of the International Village so as to attract attention on art films which maybe would not otherwise be given a chance.
For this first edition of the event, Austria will represent Europe. Amongst the six countries selected to participate this year, we also find Morocco, Sri-Lanka, Peru, and maybe Brazil, the sixth country still remaining to be chosen.
