, will open the sixth German Film Festival which will take place in Rome, at the Quattro Fontane theatre, from the 7th to the 11th of April.
The director himself, as well as the actor Alexander Held, the script-writer Fred Breinersdorfer, and the producers Sven Burgemeister and Christoph Mueller, will be here for the Italian premiere (its distributor is the Istituto Luce) of this Silver Bear 2005 in two categories, Best Direction and Best Lead Actress. This now traditional platform for the best German productions is organised by German Films Service, Marketing GmbH, and it is supported for the first time by Italian sponsors such as Mini/Roma, Technicolor, and the Istituto Luce. The success of last year’s festival encouraged the organisers to create a new Prize of the Public, giving spectators a chance to elect their best movie. The other feature films in the programme are :

-Alles Auf Zucker! by Dani Levy, (Ernst Lubitsch Prize 2005 as Best Comedy in German Language, participated to the Jewish Eye Festival 2004), distributed in Italy by Lady Film S.r.L,
-Aus Der Tiefe Des Raumes by Gil Mehmert (VGF Award 2004, participated to several festivals :Hof 2004, Biberach 2004, Luenen 2004, Berlin 2005),
-EdelweissPiraten by Niko von Glasow (participated to the Montreal Festival 2004 and the Berlinale 2005),
-Kebab Connection by Anno Saul (participated in : Hof 2004, Luenen 2004, Ophuels Saarbruecken Festival 2005, Goteborg 2005, Berlin 2005),
-Sommersturm by Marco Kreuzpaintner (Public’s Choice at Monaco 2004, participated in: Monaco 2004, Toronto 2004, Ljubljana 2004, Berlin 2005),
-Touch The Sound by Thomas Riedelsheimer (SSR/SRG Prize in Locarno 2004, Golden Dove Lipsia 2004, participated in: Locarno 2004, Edimburg 2004, Toronto 2004, Lipsia 2004, Gent 2004, Rotterdam 2005, Goteborg 2005).

As in the previous editions, the sixth German Film Festival includes a section dedicated to short films entitled ‘NEXT GENERATION’ and sponsored by the Experimental Cinema Centre, Kodak and Rai Sat, which will grant the RAI SAT prize to the best short film.
