New bosses at Icon

Icon Film Distribution, the UK distribution arm of Bruce Davey and Mel Gibson’s LA-based Icon Entertainment Group has just named Alex Hamilton as president of the company in replacement of Sally Caplan, recently appointed at the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund.
Hamilton who was director of sales and business development at the other leading UK distribution outfit Momentum Distribution, will join the company next week. “I’m delighted to be joining Icon and very much look forward to working with the talented and experienced team here”, he said.
Hamilton will report to the company’s CEO in London Martin Bigham, also recently appointed at Icon following the departure of Nick Hill in early April.
Icon Film Distribution’s is currently playing Maria Full of Grace in the UK and forthcoming releases include the football film Goal! directed by Danny Cannon and starring Anna Friel and Kuno Becker. The film produced by Icon Entertainment and Milkshake Films in the US will be released during the summer in the UK.
Mel Gibson’s The Passion of Christ released last year by Icon in the UK was the most successful ‘foreign’ language title at the UK box office with over £11.1m gross in 2004.
