Kuhn to give Pact film lecture

Michael Kuhn, former president of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and now chairman of UK production company Qwerty Films, will give an important speech on 9 May 2005 as part of the UK Producers’ association Pact Film Lecture.
Pact’s first Film Lecture sponsored by the Bank of Ireland will be attended by many UK leading players and key parliamentarians. It will focus on the state of the British film industry, looking at the role of the UK Film Council, the BBC (as the public broadcaster’s Charter renewal process is in full swing), and the UK government as a new UK prime Minister and government team will be elected on 5 May.
Tim Willis, director of PACT said: "We are delighted that Michael Kuhn has accepted our invitation to give this inaugural PACT Film Lecture at such an important time for our industry”.

Michael Kuhn set up his own London –based production outfit Qwerty Films in 2001 and immediately struck a 10-picture distribution deal with 20th Century Fox (UK). Since then, three feature films have come out of this partnership: the chiller The Order, Kinsey starring Liam Neeson and I Love Huckabees starring Dustin Hoffman and Isabelle Huppert. Qwerty Films also produced Richard Eyre’s Stage Beauty [+see also:

in association with Germany’s N1 European Filmproduktion Gmbh and is currently developing Christopher Smith’s new horror movie Severance, following UK hit Creep [+see also:
