Italy itself is bringing three films —Sotto il sole nero by Enrico Verra, Il silenzio dell'allodola by David Ballerini, and Contronatura by Alessandro Tofanelli—, followed by the Czech Republic —which will be represented by two productions, Lovers and Murderers (Mileci a Vrazi) by Viktor Polenski and Spam by Radoslaw Hendel— and Denmark.—The Leap (Springet) by star-director Henning Carlsen and Lost and Found (Opbrud) by Jacob Grønlykke. The other challengers are Rancid by Jack Ersgard (Sweden), The Third (Trzeci) by Jan Hryniak (Poland), When Night Falls (Stille Nacht) by Ineke Houtman (Netherlands), and To Die in San Hilario (Morir in San Hilario) by Laura Maña (Spain).
The names of the international jury members which will grant the awards will be revealed in a few days.

This year, the Italian festival, the birth of which was assisted by Federico Fellini, will be attended by Liv Ullmann. The Norwegian actress, known as Ingmar Bergman’ s muse, is coming to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mario Monicelli, who made, amongst other films, I soliti ignoti, and directed her in Let’s Hope It’s a Girl. A retrospective presenting 18 of his films will be organised, in collaboration with the Italian Experimental Cinema Centre – Cineteca nazionale. Liv Ullmann will also teach a few ‘cinema lessons’, which is one of the festival’s usual highlights, as will producer Valerio De Paolis and two directors, Giuliano Montaldo and Massimo Guglielmi.
