10 European films in competition
On 22 films selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the 58th Cannes Film Festival (11th-22d May), the list of which was revealed this morning, ten of them are European features. France is represented by three films by confirmed directors (François Ozon, Alain Cavalier, and Pierre Jolivet) while Germany brings the works of Christoph Hochhausler and Burkina Faso-born S. Pierre Yameogo. The other European directors whose films were chosen are : Benjamin Heisenberg, from Austria, Cristi Puiu (Rumania), Benito Zambrano (Spain), and Dagur Kari (Iceland), as well as Kornel Mundruzco (Hungary), whose chances Cineuropa did point out were good, a few days ago, in an article on his new film, a modern version of the life of Joan of Arc.
