March up 14.5%

UK cinema admissions for March were up by 14.5% compared to the previous year, with 12.3 million tickets sold and an average 2.78 million per week, making 2005 the busiest March at cinemas for three years.
According to figures published by the Cinema Advertising Association (CAA), the UK animated film Valiant released by Entertainment Film Distributors, was the fifth most popular title of the month with a £3M gross. Since then, the CGI film about a WW2 carrier pigeon has doubled its take with over £6.8m at the box office.

(Momentum Pictures) with over £800,000 in three weeks from a hundred screens, the only film that increased its weekly take by 17% the weekend of 15-17 April.
Pathe’s animated film The Magic Roundabout is going to pass its predicted £6m gross, now at £5.8m in its 10th week and still playing in 19 cinemas.
