Genevan filmmaker Romed Wyder replaces his Alemannic colleague Matthias von Gunten at the head of the Swiss Association of Screenwriters and Film Directors (ARF/FDS), while the vice-presidency was handed to the Zurich director Stefan Haupt. Created in 1962, thanks notably to Alain Tanner, the association today boasts some 200 members.
Vice-president of the ARF/FDS for two years and member of the Federal Commission for Cinema since 2002, Romed Wyder (38) has just completed his second feature length fiction film, (Absolut), following on from No coffee, no TV, no sex in 1999. This “paranoid thriller” came out in the Swiss cinemas on the 20th of April. As for Stefan Haupt (44 ), he is well-known as the maker of a documentary dedicated to the Swiss scientist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross – Face up to death (Elisabeth Kübler-Ross – Dem Tod ins Gesicht sehen, 2003), which attracted a total of 250,000 spectators in Swiss, Austria and Germany.
