by Michaël Haneke with its starring double-act Binoche-Auteuil which is released on 12th October, the company headed by Margaret Menegoz holds two trump cards in distribution. It’s worth noting that the French outfit also produced the provocative the Austrian’s filmmaker and looks after the international sales rights. In a different vein, Les Films du Losange also hold the French distribution rights to the documentary For Just One of My Eyes by Avi Mograbi (selected out of competition), an Israeli-French co-production exploring the Palestinian Question and early word of mouth suggests that it will prove to be an intriguing political piece.

Away from the spotlight on selected Cannes films, Margaret Menegoz’s company positions itself as number one distributor in France of Danish films this year. In fact, she is preparing the release on 26th June of Dear Wendy by Thomas Vinterberg and giving French cinemagoers the chance to discover the successful filmmaker Per Fly with the simultaneous release on 1st June of Heritage (2003) and of The Bench (2000). A flurry of Scandinavian films followed after the holidays by Gentille by Sophie Fillières on the 7th September, starring Emmanuelle Devos, Lambert Wilson and Bruno Todeschini. In global terms, this schedule ensures that Films du Losange is a major player in the French distribution of European films.
