9 films at the Market

Homesick by Petri Kotwica is among nine titles presented at the Marché du film in Cannes this year (11-22 May). Homesick, the only Finnish film which will have a world premiere in Cannes, is the debut feature of Petri Kotwica, produced by Kai Nordberg (Making Movies). The film is a story about survival, care and hope.
Other Finnish films screening at the Market include:
Brasileirinho by Mika Kaurismäki, sold by Wide Management which screened at the Forum in Berlin this year;
Flowers and Binding (Kukkia ja sidontaa) by Janne Kuusi, sold by Intramovies,
For the Living and the Dead (Eläville ja kuolleille) by Kari Paljakka, is a drama produced by Aki Kaurismaki. The film which premiered at the Panorama section at the last Berlinale is sold by Bavaria Film GmbH.
Frozen Land (Paha maa) by Aku Louhimies is sold by Birch Tree Entertainment;
Harbour Brothers (Keisarikunta) by Pekka Mandart is sold by NonStop Sales;
Honey Baby by Mika Kaurismäki is sold by Wide Management; Pelicanman (Pelikaanimies) by Liisa Helminen is sold by NonStop Sales,
and Shades of Happiness (Onnen Varjot) by Claes Olsson is sold by Nordisk Film International Sales.

Finland will also be represented in Cannes with Leila Lyytikäinen from Kinoproduction Oy in the European Film Promotion initiative Producers on the Move. Lyytikäinen is the producer of Shades of Happiness. Her next project in pre-production is The Girl and the Wolf (Tyttö ja susi) by Raimo O Niemi.
