CANNES 2005 Events

23 European screenwriters for Le Club

by

The titles of the 20 projects selected to participate to the second European Screenplay Market, organised next Saturday (14th of May) at the Noga Hilton in Cannes by the European Producers’ Club were revealed on Monday. Amongst them, some scripts come from experimented directors like Erik de Bruyn (Netherlands), who won the Dutch Film Critic Award as Best Film 2002 for Mossels, Frédéric Sojcher (France) whose Cinéastes à tout prix was part of the official selection last year in Cannes, and Beatriz Flores (En la Puta Vida - 2001) from Belgium, Mona Hoel (Chlorox, Ammonia and Coffee - 2004) from Norway, Andrej Kosak (Headnoise - 2002) from Slovenia, and Christoph Toelle ( New Found Land - 2003) from Germany. The 23 authors of the 20 selected projects will take advantage of the Cannes Film Festival to try and accelerate the production process, as did the two winners of the first European Screenplay Market which took place last November in Strasbourg. Indeed, thanks to this event, the Italian director Mirco da Lio is producing his project, Crash Course (Bavaria Film Produktion), and so is Pedro Riviero, currently working on an animation film, Carnivorous Crisis.
