More support to the circulation of films
Some Jury members of the Cannes Film Festival have gathered yesterday with Emir Kusturica. They discussed the means to improve the circulation of films screened at the Festival and those to help the rise of new authors by putting them under the spotlights. Agnès Varda and John Woo, members of the official competition jury, Patrick Chamoiseau (jury member for the Golden Camera) and the CNC former manager, David Kessler, who today is an adviser at France Télévisions were among the people taking part in this debate.
According to the participants, although "Cannes Film Festival has supported many authors, it's time to go further". For instance, the Market could be more accessible for films from the selections or a tour of those films could be organised. Beyond the Cinéfondation and the Atelier of the Festival, which starts this year and puts in touch young talents with potential producers, jury members concluded their brainstorming by insisting on the necessity "to support upstream films in the production process and downstream ones in the distribution".
