An Oscar-winner for the 2005 Venice Film Festival
The Oscar-winner, Dante Ferretti will preside over the Jury of the 62nd Film Festival Venice (August 31 – September 10). "A way to affirm the internationalism of the Italian cinema, already underlined last year by another Italian Oscar-winner, the editor Pietro Scalia", explained Marco Muller, director of the Venice Film Festival, during a press conference in Cannes with the President of the Venice Biennale Davide Croff. Any indiscretions were committed on the programme which will only be officially released on July, 28. But the festival will be "thinner": 58 films (about 6 Italian films) compared to 76 last year.
Concerning the possibility to have the Mifed with them, Croff declared that Venice never thought of bringing the Milan Film Market in Venice Lido since the infrastructures wouldn’t enable it, but the possibility of assessing eventual collaborations exists. A new Palazzo del Cinema, designed by a famous European architect and built by 2008 represents the Venice Film festival’s future.
