Italian festivals together for a better quality

by

The first appointment of the newly born Afic (Italian Film Festival Association), will take place next autumn. To be discussed is the regional autonomy of public financing, on the basis of a study conducted by the association. It’s the president Alberto Barbera, chairman of the National Cinema Museum of Torino who announced it in Cannes. The Afic which was created a few months ago along the European Coordination of European Festivals’ lines, gathers 33 of the most important national festivals: Turin, Pesaro, Bergamo, Courmayeur, Trieste, Lecce, and the Arcipelago in Rome. The association is aiming at protecting the quality of works and the specificity of festivals compared to local initiatives by becoming the direct interlocutor of the public administration, the senior management for cinema and local firms on financing and cultural recognition questions.
