Healthy pre-sales on Latido’s Oculto

by

Antonio Hernández’s Spanish language thriller Oculto produced by Zebra Producciones (Spain), in co-production with Italy (Iconica) and the UK (Future Films) was one of Latido Films’ most popular title on its Cannes 2005 line-up.
The film about a man in a love triangle with two women where nothing is as it appears, stars hot Colombian actress Angie Cepeda, Laia Marull (Te doy mis ojos) and famous Argentine actor Leonardo Sbaraglia. It was pre-bought by US distributor Venevision specialised in Spanish language films, who had previously bought from Latido a package of five films including the popular Los Debutantes. Other territories who pre-bought Oculto include Italy (Istituto Luce), Benelux (Paradiso), Germany (Anolis Entertainment), Turkey (Pi Film), Ukraine (Schygol), and Singapore. The film will be released in Spain by Warner next autumn.

«The success of Oculto in Cannes has proved that pre-sales are absolutely possible on quality auteur films», said Massimo Saidel, Head of Latido Film, the Spanish sales consortium backed by Spanish production trio Zebra Producciones, Tornasol Films and Continental Producciones.

Latido Film was also offering in Cannes The Longest Penalty the biggest local hit in Spain this year with over one million admissions. The football comedy directed by Roberto Santiago and produced by Tornasol and Ensueño Films in Spain, was sold to Italy (Blue Moon), Portugal (Eco Filmes), and Greece (Prooptiki), with offers pending for the UK.

The company also sold an 11 films package to Greece (Medial) including its Cannes pick-up Viva Cuba and Gerardo Herrero’s Heroina.
