by

The three Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have announced the creation of the first Baltic Film and Media School in Tallinn, Estonia, established thanks to donations of over €1.1m from the Danish-based Nordic Baltic Film Fund.

The school set to enroll the first students in September 2006, aims at becoming a leading provider of film and media education in the Baltic States, with a strong focus on practical training, most needed in the Baltic film industry. Supported by the three countries’ Ministries of Culture and film agencies, the Estonian Film Foundation, and the National Film Centre of Latvia, the new school will provide education in the main film professions: directing, cinematography and lighting, scriptwriting, editing, sound and production, with a one-year course in animation taught by the Estonian Academy of Arts.
The Media division will include audiovisual media, production, PR and communication studies.
