Bergman week in Fårö

by

For the second consecutive year, fans and friends of Ingmar Bergman will be able to spend a whole week from 28 June to 3 July on the island of Fårö, famous retreat place and shooting set for some of the grand master’s films, to discover or rediscover some of Bergman’s films, visit his film sets and listen to special guests linked to his art or taste in him.

This year, Bergman has selected himself five favourite films that will screen during the week including Akira Kurosawa’s 1951 classic Rashomon, the 2004 Swedish film Day and Night by Simon Staho that will be introduced by the actor Mikael Persbtandt, winner of the 2004 Ingmar Bergman Award, and the European award-winning film Girl With A Pearl Earring. The director Peter Webber will attend the screening of his film and will held a discussion on the subject: ‘From chiaroscuro to cannibalism’, or the art of giving life to art or making art out of life. Cannibalism will also refer to Webber’s upcoming film Behind The Mask, a prequel to the Silence of The Lambs that Webber is currently developing.
