550 prints for Les poupées russes

Faced with a shortage of supportable films, the exhibitors have literally grabbed at copies of the 8th feature film by Cédric Klapisch, Les poupées russes, following the huge success of L’Auberge espagnole (2002) which achieved 3 million admissions in France and more than 12 million in the rest of the world. Released today in the French cinemas with 550 copies from Mars Distribution, the filmmakers new work reunites Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Kelly Reilly and Kevin Bishop, playing former roommates at Erasmus in Barcelona who have turned thirty and are searching for some balance in their professional and personal lives. For his part, Romain Duris has added extra commercial value to his status by his appearances during 2004–2005 in Exils by Tony Gatlif, Arsène Lupin by Jean-Paul Salomé, De battre mon cœur s'est arrêté [+see also:

With a budget of 10,67 million euros, Les Poupées russes benefited from a European co-production bringing together France (70 % - Bruno Levy at Ce Qui Me Meut Motion Picture) and the UK (30 % - Lunar Films). Pre-bought by Canal + and TPS, the film was also supported by France 2 to the tune of 1,83 million euros, of which 1,07 is broadcast rights. By comparison, the budget for L’auberge espagnole was 5,33 million euros and the film began its release in France with a total of 348 prints.
Sold internationally by Studiocanal, Les Poupées Russes was bought in Europe for Italy (BIM Distribuzione), Germany (Tobis– release 3rd November), l’Espagne (Wanda), Greece (Prooptiki), Portugal (Atalanta), Belgium (Cinéart– release 22nd June), Switzerland (Frenetic), Scandinavia (Noble Entertainment), Hungary (Best Hollywood), Poland and the Czech Republic (SPI), the Baltic States (Acme), ex-Yugoslavia (Blitz Films) and for Rumania and Bulgaria (New Films).
