Saul Metzstein wins in Taormina

The jury of the Taormina BNL Film Fest 2005 has just revealed the results: the Best Film is Saul Metzstein's Guy X, with this year's Best Actor (Jason Biggs) in a Principal Role. The film, which is the British director's second work, is a pacifist comedy, co-produced by Film and Music Entertainment, The Spice Factory, Wizzfilms (Canada), and Anna Maria Karlsdottir (Iceland).

Lucrezia Lante della Rovere was elected Best Actress for her role in Gli occhi dell'altro, by Gianpaolo Tescari, while the actors of Nordkraft, by the Danish director Ole Christian Madsen, were collectively rewarded as Best supporting actors. The Best Director of Photography is Christophe Beaucarne for his work in Bye Bye Blackbird, the first film by the French director Robinson Savary (co-produced in Luxemburg, with Samsa Film).

The jury awarded the BNL Prize of the Best Short-Film to Melina Sydney Padua, for Agricultural Report, and a special distinction to Maryline Canto and Antoine Chappey for their roles in Poulet-Poulet, by Damien Chemin.
The BNL Audience Prize, which is granted every year to a first or second film, went to Bye Bye Blackbird, which also got the Fipresci.
