Jeanne Moreau, initiator of the project with the organisers of the Premiers Plans festival, yesterday unveiled the programme for the Angers Workshops, for which the first sessions will take place from the 1st - 10th July. Welcoming 12 young European filmmakers who are currently preparing their first feature films, the Angers residence offers an accelerated training, enlivened by the French actress herself and also by Krysztof Zanussi and by the producer Alain Rocca (Lazennec). On the menu for the residents will also be lessons on framing and lighting from the directors of photography Philippe Ros and Gérard de Battista, on digital production from post-production specialist Franck Montagne, on editing from (François Gedigier) and on set design (Dan Weil) and their interaction with special effects (Christian Guillon). A panorama which will be completed with a session by Alain Marcoen, director of photography for Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, and the Belgian filmmakers will be there in person at Angers on the 9th July.

Having already participated at the Angers Premiers Plans Festival, the 12 candidates come from five European countries. They are the Belgians, Patric Jean who are developing Libre the duo Sophie Kovess – Brun & Erwan Augoyard (Les Trois Grâces), the Hungarian, Barnabas Toth (Mon guide), Spaniard, Lucia Sanchez (Chicanes), the Uruguayan living in Madrid, Federico Veiroj Bregman (Atascado), the Portuguese, Ines Oliveira (Replica) and the French, Kiye Simon Luang (Tao), Lisa Bresner (8H29), Pascal Bonnelle (Des Ephémères and Elise Griffon & Sébastien Marnier (L’Heure de la sortie). The first Angers Workshops had a budget of 170,000 including support from the Media Programme.
