Hawaii, Oslo favourite for Amanda Awards

Erik Poppe’s second feature film and Norway’s entry for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category, received the most nominations (4) for the Amanda Awards, the Norwegian annual film awards that will be handed out during the closing night ceremony of the Haugesund International Film Festival on August 26th, 2005.

will run for Best Norwegian film, Best director –a new Amanda category this year-, Best script and Best actor. Its biggest competitors this year will be the two multi-awarded films Uno and The Colour of Milk (Ikke naken) both nominated in three categories. Actor/director Aksel Hennie’s urban drama Uno, the second most popular local film in Norway last year, will run for Best Norwegian film, Best director and Best actor, and Torun Lian’s children film The Colour of Milk for Best film, Best Children and Youth’s film, and Best script.

Arne Lindtner Næss’s Finding Friends (Venner for livet), the second biggest local success of the year with over 184,000 admissions since February, is nominated twice for Best film and Best children’s film, just like Sara Johnsen’s Kissed By Winter(Vinterkyss) nominated in the Best actress category and Best script.
Bent Hamer’s Factotum [+see also:

selected at the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes 2005 is only nominated once for Best director. The same with Pål Sletaune’s thriller Next Door (Naboer), nominated in the Best actor category, and Margreth Olin’s documentary feature film Raw Youth running for Best film .

(Der Untergang) which is doing amazingly well at the Norwegian box office, taking the No2 position after…Star Wars with 260,629 tickets sold since February, is going to compete against the Swedish film As It Is In Heaven [+see also:

(143,642 admissions) and the US Oscar winner Million Dollar Baby (100,802 admissions) for the Best foreign film of the year.
