The adventure of Bataa is about to begin

film profile] (2004), has just started shooting (on the 20th of June), Lapislazuli (Bataa) in Zillertal, Austria. The crew will then move to Innsbruck and Vienna until the 13th of August.
The script, written by the director and Volker Krappen, depicts the encounter and friendship of Sophie (Julia Krombach), a factory-worker on holiday in Tyrol, and Bataa (Clarence John Ryan), a prehistoric creature freed from eternal snows by a fallen comet. To prevent her new friend being studied as guinea-pig by eager scientists, she hides him first in a cave, then out in the world at large (dyeing his hair blue). However, poor Bataa is not adapted to this world. Little by little, he becomes seriously ill...
This film, produced by Danny Krausz and Kurt Stocker for Dor Film and co-produced by Krebs & Krappen (Germany) and Samsa Film (Luxembourg), is supported by Eurimages, the Media Programme, the Austrian Film Institute, BKM, ORF and several regional funds in Austria (FFW, Tyrol), Germany (Filmstiftung NRW), and Luxembourg.
