At its last round of National Lottery Funding meeting in June, Scottish Screen awarded £290,833 (€438,000) to Red Road, the feature film debut of Andrea Arnold who won an Oscar this year for her short film Wasp.
The project set to go into production at the end of the summer, is co-produced by Scottish production outfit Sigma Films with its long-time Danish partner Zentropa Film as part of a new low budget three feature film concept called Advanced Party.

), ‘Advanced Party’ has been "specifically designed to encourage collaboration and will be director led" according to Sigma Films.
The three feature films will be shot in Scotland and the characters for the films to be played by the same actors, have been created by Danish director Lone Scherfig (Italian For Beginners) and prolific scriptwriter/director Anders Tomas Jensen. Apart from Andrea Arnold, the other two directors to direct the Advance Party films include Bafta winner Morag Mckinnon and Danish director Mikkel Norgaard.
Red Road, the first to go into production is the story of a woman obsessed with the loss of her family who uses her job as a closed-circuit television surveillance operator to confront the man responsible for their death.
