L’Ile-de-France on all fronts

After bilateral meetings at Cannes with its counterparts in Berlin, Rome and Madrid, L’Ile-de-France region has added London and Marseille to its list of targets with a view to promoting its cinema and audiovisual Funds and to show the advantages of shooting and post-production in Paris and its outskirts. On the 15 June, the Film Commission for Ile-de-France directed by Olivier-René Veillon presented its benefits to British directors and producers at round-table discussions organised in association with Production Association Cinema & Television (PACT) and the Directors Guild of Great Britain (DGGB). Participating were a number of professionals from France such as Thierry de Segonzac (FICAM), Philippe Carcassonne (Ciné B), Bertrand Faivre (The Bureau), Jacques Bled (Mac Guff Ligne), Annie Dautane (La Maison) and also Julien Meesters (Mikros Image).

Today, it’s at Marseille, within the framework of the international documentary market , Sunny side of the doc that the region Ile-de-France has set up another round-table on the theme of "Making documentaries in Ile-de-France: artistic and industrial issues". In fact, the reform of the Support Funds, ratified on 26th May, notably opened access to finance to feature length documentary and audiovisual works. A modification that reinforces the already attractive potential of the French fund which has aided more than 100 films since its creation, with a total of 29,4 million euros. In 2005, 14 million euros will be set aside, with documentaries benefiting from between 25 000 and 90 000 euros, feature films and animation from 128 000 euros to 560 000 euros with a minimum of 20 shooting days and audiovisual works from 50 000 to 400 000 euros.
