The bumper summer issue from Cinergie

In this month’s issue, Cinergie decided, as usual, to highlight diverse works that have come out on DVD, in the cinemas or at festivals - all marked by their originality and efficacity.

Following Strass, Vincent Lanoo presents his second feature, Ordinary man a very black thriller, in premiere at the Brussels European Film Festival; it will be distributed in Belgium by Lumière in November. On the bill in Brussels, the documentary Made in China by Julien Selleron about the filmmaker heading the new independent Chinese wave, Jia Zhang-Ke. Cinergie took the opportunity to talk with the Chinese filmmaker about the themes that drive his abundant work, made independently of the powers-that-be. Also released Les chemins de Barbara by Christian Mesnil which retraces the early days of the singer Barbara in Belgique, the period just before her success on the French stages. Shooting-wise, Guillaume Malandrin, is setting up his second feature, Où est la main de l'homme sans tête [+see also:

and talks about his first Ca m'est égal si demain n'arrive jamais. Two DVD releases of classic Belgian films make Cinergie's eyes water: Confituur by Lieven Debrauwer and Quand la mer monte by Yolande Moreau and Gilles Porte.

And Cinergie proposes, as usual, filmed interviews, rare little jewels which capture the voices and faces of Jia Zhang-Ke talking about The World, of Eliane du Bois on 30 years at Cinéart, and of Lieven Debrauwer presenting the DVD release of Confituur, and finally, for digital buffs, Patrick d'Artois, boss at Ciné&Fix, Belgian digital post-production and special effects company to whom many films owe a part of their success, such as Amélie Poulain.
