EXHIBITORS Germany

Opening of the Sternenpalast at Biberach

by

Adrian Kutter, one of the most dedicated exhibitors in Germany, opened today a new eight-screen cinema, the Sternenpalast ("palace of the stars"), at Biberach. He continues the work begun by his father, Anton, a multi-talented man of the cinema, from filmographer to screenwriter, director and producer, spread over more than 50 projects.

In fact, from the end of the War, at the beginning of the 1950s, Anton Kutter turned his attention to exhibition. His son later took up the flame, bringing extra energy to the work started by his father at a time when the art house films rarely reached the provinces. During the 1970s, he invited the great German directors and screened their work for the public, names such as Herzog, Wenders, Schloendorff, Hauff, Trotta, Geissendörffer and Kluge.

The opening of a multiplex like Sternenpalast is an expression of Adrian Kutter's determination to modernise the cinema, a living thing that evolves and adapts to new means of enjoying culture.
