Netd@ys Europe 2002

by

From 15 to 24 November 2002, Europe will celebrate its film heritage with CinEd@ys Europe 2002 an initiative of Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission responsible for education, culture and audiovisual media.

For a whole week, the young and the not so young will have the chance to discover films from Europe´s cinema heritage, to discuss cinema, the audiovisual, photographic and multimedia image, and to create and exchange material on the Internet.

Since 1997, Netd@ys Europe has involved more than 500,000 young people and professionals from the fields of education and culture in the creation and exchange of multimedia. Watching, reading and doing are the three key words of Netd@ys Europe 2002, which focuses on the visual image.
Schools, training centres, youth associations, operas, museums, film libraries and cultural centres join forces to give young people the chance to chat with film experts on the Internet, to improve their knowledge of film heritage and their understanding of the visual image, and to use the Internet to play and to create and exchange material.
Netd@ys Europe 2002 are:

- a campaign to promote the new media in education and culture;
- competitions on cinema and the visual image;
- educational and creative activities: visits to multimedia centres, analysis of images and films, learning about video, computer graphics, photography, etc.;
- exchanges with stars and with professionals in audiovisual media and cinema;
- online collaboration on joint projects with other young people and other educational or cultural organisations;
- websites, chats and discussion forums on the subject of the visual image and cinema.
