The sixth consecutive edition of “Shooting Stars” will take place during the 2003 edition of the Berlin Film Festival – 6-16 February. “Shooting Stars” was set up by European Film Promotion to raise the international profile of Europe’s most promising acting talents and the event is financed by the EU’s Media Programme, as well as various support mechanisms, German broadcasters and private sponsors.
Germany’s “Shooting Star” for 2003 is 24-year-old Daniel Bruehl. He won the Max Ophüls Award for his interpretation of a young schizophrenic in Das weisse Rauschen and was voted Best German Actor in the summer of 2002 for his work in Nichts bereuen, Das weiße Rauschen and Vaya con dios.
The deadline for submissions to Shooting Stars 2003 is 1 December 2002.
